History

  • 1967

    Güleryüz was established
    In 1967, Güleryüz began its activities as a small bodywork workshop which was operated by a father and his 3 sons.

    Bodywork Workshop
    Vehicles of old times with wooden body were converted into metal body vehicles. In addition to that, vehicle body manufacturing was carried out on the chassis’ of Bedford and Iveco trucks. Renovations on damaged vehicles and general renovations on the other vehicles were also performed.

    Municipal Vehicles
    Güleryüz continued its activities as the repair and renovation services provider of multiple municipal vehicles throughout Turkey.

    Establishment of Güleryüz A.Ş
    In 1982, it continued its activities as a family business with the name of Güleryüz Karoseri Otomotiv A.Ş, by manufacturing bodyworks for buses. It also produced military personnel vehicles for the commands of air forces and ground forces and continued its activities as the repair and renovation services provider of multiple municipal vehicles throughout Turkey.

  • 1990

    Era of double-decker buses
    In 1990, Güleryüz became the first manufacturer of double-decker buses in Turkey by utilizing the chassis’ from the brands such as VOLVO and DAF. These buses represented the beginning of a new era in the field of intercity transportation in Turkey. Additionally, double-decker buses were sold to the prestigious tourism companies of Turkey.

  • 1993

    Early exports
    In 1993, Güleryüz produced 12 m and 15 m long luxury buses on VOLVO and DAF chassis’. These buses were also exported to Lebanon, Arabia and Jordan with the purpose of being used as intercity coaches.

  • 1996

    Production of Urban Bus
    In 1996, municipal vehicles were produced for Municipal and Public Buses Enterprises on 9 m and 12 m long MAN and Mercedes chassis. The sales were made to the private public bus operators, who are carrying their activities in many cities such as Mersin, Adana, Gaziantep, Erzurum and Isparta.

  • 1999

    ORIGIN OF COBRA
    In 1999, Güleryüz A.Ş, which became the driving force with its experience, decided to produce buses under its own brand and laid the foundation for dawn of a new era.
     
    Prototyping of 12 m long urban bus, Cobra GD model 272, was initiated. After a brief period time, it was followed by the prototyping of 9 m long urban bus.

  • 2001

    Early Cobra buses
    In the beginning of 2001, both buses were produced with Deutz engine and their type approval certificates were obtained.
     
    In a short period of time, 12 m long vehicles were sold to İstanbul market. 9 m long vehicles were sold to cities such as Adana, Mersin and Alanya.
     
    Meanwhile, Gülenyüz became the first producer of the 9 m long vehicles in Turkey marketplace.

  • 2003

    Expanding the product range
    In 2003, upon the strong demand from its customers, Gülenyüz started the production of 10,50 m long vehicles with MAN engine, the GM model 220, which has the ideal size for urban usage purposes. The vehicle was mainly sold to Antalya, along with the cities such as Eskişehir and Gaziantep. The 10,5 m long bus model was met with strong demand in Antalya market, and sold 90 pieces.

  • 2004

    Production of double-decker buses
    In 2004, Güleryüz A.Ş moved on to a new phase by producing double-decker buses. Additionally, it renovated all of the 95 operating vehicles in İstanbul. Today, it continues to be the first producer of double decker buses in Turkey.

  • 2005

    Open-top double-decker bus
    OPEN-TOP DOUBLE-DECKER BUS is a brand new model of Güleryüz. In 2005, 3 pieces of open-top double-decker buses started operating at the Sultanahmet square which was the heart of Ottoman Empire and continues to being the heart of İstanbul today.
     
    Once again Güleryüz became the first producer of open-top double-decker buses in Turkey. Today, this model is not only being exported to 28 countries around the globe such as Italy, Spain, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Greece, Romania, Azerbaijan and Georgia but also is being used in İstanbul, the melting pot of civilizations.

  • 2006

    Production of Luxury buses
    In 2006, the company initially launched the 9 m long and 11 m long models of the Cobra GL9 in the segment of touristic and luxurious intercity vehicles. These models were exported in significant numbers to European countries such as Greece, Poland, Bulgaria, Italy, Romania, Austria and Hungary.

  • 2007

    Construction of the new factory
    In 2007, Güleryüz proceed to the next level by deciding to expand its business. The construction of the new factory was started after acquiring a used plant. Güleryüz started the construction of its modern plant on an important location, which stretches out to an area of 80.000 m2 with 40.000 m2 of indoor space, 25 km out of Bursa and 3 km away from the international seaport which is also a free trade zone.

  • 2010

    Güleryüz superstructure partner of Mercedes
    In 2010, Güleryüz Otomotiv A.Ş. started the manufacturing of luxury type busses with Mercedes-Benz chassis for Daimler/Evobus dealers. It became a superstructure partner of Daimler.
     
    Hundreds of the Güleryüz GL model 9, the 9 m long luxury buses with Mercedes chassis, was sold and exported to the dealers in 18 different countries which involve South Eastern Region of Europe and Central Asian Republics.

  • 2011

    Hydrogen Fuel Cell buses
    In 2011, Güleryüz started to working on the project of the first hydrogen fuel cell bus of Turkey, also it partook in a project that is funded by the United Nations.

  • 2013

    CNG Environment Friendly vehicles
    In 2013, Güleryüz started the production of CNG environment friendly buses and today the production is continuing rapidly. Vast majority of these vehicles are being used in İstanbul.

    Electric bus
    Güleryüz, continued the project of electric bus throughout the year 2014. An electrical vehicle was produced in a joint project with a company of United Kingdom origin. The project of electric bus is still going on today.

    We have been working for 50 years for you and your customers to be able to travel comfortably, by applying lean production techniques, modernizing their vehicles according to customer needs, investing for the future, producing with 8 different models and having high market share in domestic and abroad market with our unique products.

  • 2019

    The project of converting a double-decker diesel vehicle to an electric vehicle was carried out.

  • 2020

    We started to produce our 39-person tourism EFORA vehicle suitable for intercity use.

  • 2021

    We have developed 28 ft 100% electric and 32 ft diesel vehicles for N. America.

  • 2022

    We produced Turkey`s first 100% electric double-decker bus.

  • 2023

    We continue to work on our 100% electric family and to renew ourselves.
